How does a Performance Chip work?

Our Performance Chip works by sending a constant signal through your factory data sensor in your engine that your engine control module (ECM) monitors. This signal triggers the factory ECM to optimize the fuel mixture and timing curve to a more efficient balance. This piggy-back system is one of the safest and easiest performance enhancers available, leaving no trace of footprint behind. Time-tested and proven, our performance chips are guaranteed to provide results.

“Tuning Chip” that charge only a few dollars do not include the necessary programing: Those are NOT Chip Your Car Performance Chip.

How do you install the Performance Chip?

Performance Chip - Chip Your Car - Installation Our performance chip simply plugs into the obd2 diagnostic port typically located under the dashboard on the driver’s side. Total installation time is typically 60 seconds or less! After driving the initial 150 miles to allow total programming, your vehicle will be running with optimal performance and power.

No, our Performance Chip will not affect or alter your vehicle’s emissions.

Will a Performance Chip void the vehicle warranty?

The performance chip is safe for your vehicle’s warranty, protected by law under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. The vehicle manufacturer cannot simply void your entire vehicle’s warranty due to aftermarket accessories. While a loss of any vehicle warranty has never happened as a result of the installation of one of our performance chip products, ChipYourCar.com will not be held responsible for loss of warranty. It is recommended to remove the module prior to service, further avoiding potential issues or misunderstandings with the dealer, and protecting your warranty.

Will the lights stay lit on the performance chip?

Yes, however, the lights are only used for our programming purposes. They do not represent how well your chip is performing.

How fast does the performance chip start working?

Your performance chip will start working immediately after installation. Allow up to 150 miles of accumulative drive time to allow for full programming before testing the results.

Yes, a performance chip is safe for your vehicle. In fact, our chips are considered safer than factory chips. Performance Chip improves the existing factory fuel map, thereby improving the efficiency of your vehicle.

How do you restore the vehicle to factory settings?

With the MOTOR OFF, simply unplug the performance chip from the OBD-2 port and once you restart your car it will be reset to original settings.
